Literature Text

4:30 a.m.
- Alarm goes off; I blink sleep from my eyes before climbing out of bed to say my morning prayers.  Bed is made and I put on my robe and sandals to go out to the garden.
4:40 a.m.
- Flashlight in hand I check on the environmental controls for my roses.  The greenhouses I built to shield them from the winter are lightly dusted with snow.  Will have to check newspaper to see predicted snowfall to determine when to shovel off the snow.
- Light pruning is required: Satsu needs her roots moisturized, Hina has light frost, panel 17 needs to be replaced, Tashigi has recovered well from last season’s graft - she should grow beautiful pink roses this year.
4:55 a.m.
- Back inside, I do my morning stretches and exercises and shower.
5:30 a.m.
- To save time, breakfast is eaten while I air dry.  Cool night air is countered by apartment’s central heating.  Grapefruit is well sized considering the season; I smile at the successful negotiation between the local grocer suppliers and the ones from the southern islands.
- Dietary intake: cereal, milk, and grapefruit.  Dishes washed upon completion.
5:50 a.m.
- Dressing in clothes prepared last night, Lock house and walk to work.
- Decide to pick up a dozen variety muffins for the office on the way.  The smell from the local bakers was just too good.
6:00 a.m.
- Met up with the mailman at the door to the Kage’s office.  Opened the door and exchanged outgoing mail and packages with the morning delivery.  Sound of a Hawk overhead confirms Hawk delivery, shake head wondering when Dou would come in today to sort out the mission reports.
- Set the automatic coffee and tea makers, at least the coffee would have been set if it were in the front office…
- Sorting through the mail, incoming packages for the laboratory boys would be the first stop.  Priority deliveries, requested samples for analysis, and non-critical intelligence missives were dropped off in their untidy in-box.  I found the coffee machine on one of the laboratory counters, likely moved by a researcher on a late shift.  Note made to set up the lab with their own machine.
6:20 a.m.
- The rest of the mail is sorted through.  Mission requests sorted out from other official documents.
6:30 a.m.
- Morning receptionist Satsume comes in.  The blueberry muffin and green tea/citrus blend caught her eye today, last time she had gone for the chocolate with black tea.  Helped her adjust her new phone, it had minor interference with the receiver caused by dusty in the electronics.  She’s still getting used to it, a ten channel closed circuit phone to speed communication between the Village’s main buildings.
- Making myself a chai with almond milk and orange zest, I walked upstairs to my office and sat down to go through the Mikokage’s mail.
6:40 a.m.
- Personal mail sorted from village business, only five love confessions today.
- Correspondence between her and another Kage through civilian channels, done because secret lines were being watched which oddly made the non-secure channels more inconspicuous.
7:20 a.m.
- Finishing going through the mail, I went into Eimi’s office.  Shaking my head at the mess I cleaned it up from her late night “meeting” with Joshua.
7:30 a.m.
- Going back to my office, the first jounin arrives with the nightly security records.  Dismissing him, I reviewed the four folders worth of material regarding the village’s: electricity, natural gas, water works, and sewage.
8:10 a.m.
- Needing a break, I went downstairs to grab an apple spice muffin and refills my teacup.
- Stayed in lobby for the next twenty minutes taking notes of incoming times for office employees to compare to their timesheets.  Also planned out my schedule for inspections to make in a few hours.
8:30 a.m.
- Dou arrives late to work and runs up to his office.  A quick meeting with Dou to compare mission request notes with civil operations is done.  Only one mission needs to be canceled, Dou instructed to write a letter to the client letting them know the suspicious activity was done by an Omoichidou Jounin making a survey of their property.
8:45 a.m.
- Leaving the stressed Dou to his work, I got ready for my 9:00 meeting with the city’s economic council.  On the way to the civilian city hall, I nodded politely to Eimi as she entered the office, seeming to be in a wonderful mood.
9:00 a.m.
- Civilian economic council.  Monthly review of local civilian sales.  Concerns for overhead costs during the winter.  Lingering installation costs for new systems.  Proposals for solar energy installations marked with village security concerns.
10:00 a.m.
- Finishing the meeting, I swung by the local donut shop for a pick-me up and sugar boost before my next assignment.  Exchanged pleasantries with Naoki-chan, girl is like a little sister, her bright attitude always puts a smile on my face.
10:20 a.m.
- Inspection of the sewers under the northwestern police station.   Minor blockage of the pipes cleaned out with a water jutsu.  Not the most elegant use of ninjutsu, but I  always believed in practical applications.
- Odd signs of damage on the stone walls of the sewer tunnels.  Note given to chuunin assistant to investigate.
10:40 a.m.
- Report of a water leak in the Amor River Park fixed, strain on pipes caused by water freezing overnight.  Old pipes not properly insulated against extreme cold.  Requisition for new pipes to be installed made.
11:00 a.m.
- Early lunch taken at the Academy cafeteria.  Rice, vegetables, ground steak (heavily peppered, light gravy), and watered down coconut milk (tasty).
- Took a little break, pocket sudoku puzzle.
11:30 a.m.
- On the walk back to Starlight Circle, ran across Nagisa and Ubume engaging in a food fight at one of the sweet shops in town.  Signaling a nearby jounin, I pointed at the ruckus and continued on my way to the Kage Tower.
11:40 a.m.
- Back in my office, I prepared for my noon meeting with the Mikokage.  Expense and investment accounts were the topic for the day.
12:00 p.m.
- Two empty chocolate muffin wrappers lay empty on her desk, holding her head as she poured over a report, the Mikokage waved me in and sat back as she sighed.  Her letter from the other Kage was troubling her, but it was the stack of letters from the nobles that were giving her that headache.  Making up my grandmother’s herbal blend in the newly installed herb station I had put in her office.  I poured hot water into the cup and covered it.  After a minute she inhaled the vapors and drank the remedy, best headache cure I had.
- Deciding to put off the report, sparing her the worry, I instead asked about how Momo was doing.  Her smile of was one of happiness and motherly pride, it fit her face far better than the scowl she sometimes wore when she worked.
- Taking a pile of correspondence from her desk while she looked out on the village.  Concealing it in my coat, I bowed and left the minimal three papers I needed her to sign on her desk.
1:00 p.m.
- Answering non-critical correspondence.
3:00 p.m.
- Signing requisition reports for supplies, payments, and contract negotiations.
4:00 p.m.
- Chuunin returned with report of tunnels under western police station.  Wild animals sighted in tunnels.
4:20 p.m.
- Riding a 700 kg boar through the sewers of the city was not on my daily agenda.
4:40 p.m.
- Clothes dirty, beast subdued and returned to the forbidden forest.  Inspections would have to be made for any underground connections to the city’s sewers and other tunnels.
5:00 p.m.
- Returned home to shower, change, and run a load of laundry before going out for dinner.
5:30 p.m.
- Ran across Team 16 at the diner.  Niro-kun had come back from a scouting mission.  Introduced him to a new fish dish (hard to believe how unfamiliar with fish he is).
- The enokitake was an excellent addition to the cod stew, local cave cultivation of the mushroom was proving to be very successful.
6:10 p.m.
- A pleasant stroll through the village.
6:30 p.m.
- Checking personal mail at home.  Letter from the manager of the Kumanomi Tea House, business was going well despite the season.  Winter loggers had been working to thin the overgrown forest nearby and were also staying at the attached inn.
- Second letter from the Omoichidou housing board.  Status update of property request approved!
“YES!”  I yelled out in victory.
6:40 p.m.
- Finishing the laundry; I cleaned my boots, ironed my jacket, and pressed my pants and lay them out for tomorrow.
6:50 p.m.
- Evening inspection of the rose garden.  Replaced panel 17, watered with my winter formula, taking special care with Satsu’s roots.
7:15 p.m.
- Sat inside by the heater and read a book from my library.  Adventure volume from a series I liked.  An argument with Azami Fujihara the other day over the series had caused a minor stir at the library.
8:00 p.m.
- Mibae stopped by for a visit.  The Jounin had been out of town for a while, making team coordination harder than it already was with my responsibilities.  Scheduled a meeting for tomorrow with him and the rest of the team after meeting with the electrician’s union.
8:30 p.m.
- As Mibae was about to leave, Rebisu and Hazuki turned up.  Happy to have the company, I entertained them with a dessert and games.  Hazuki was fine with just an orange, which was odd.
- Rebisu prided himself with his work on the clouds today; which seemed accurate, as it had not snowed despite the weather report.
9:30 p.m.
- Waving them goodbye, I felt rather drained and walked upstairs to my room.  Stopping by a painting of my hometown I closed my eyes to remember the sound of the sea and the feel of the wind on my face.
- A portrait of my parents did not summon feelings quite as pleasant.
9:40 p.m.
- Evening stretches and prayers, changing into my pajamas, and lying down on the soft, fluffy mattress.  Outside a light snow was beginning to fall as the moon shone though the cloud cover, looking very much like a smiling tanuki.
- ‘Another fine day’ I thought to myself, as I drifted off to sleep.
To help understand who Taira is, let's follow him through a typical day :D

Just a fun little thing, I hope you enjoy it :D
Hope this wasn't too hard to read, it's a different kind of format but I had fun writing it.

OFFICIAL PROMPTS USED:

Ninjutsu
- Restoration (The rose bushes Satsu, Hina, and Tashigi were in special need of care)
Genjutsu
- Sight and Touch (The sight of the Mikokage's office compelled Taira to touch it, or rather clean it)
- Continue (Another busy day for the hardest working man in Omoichidou)
- Conceal (Hiding a pile of folders from the Mikokage so she wouldn't worry about them)
Intelligence
- Brain Buster (let's see you do paperwork for 3 hours straight and see how you feel)
- Plan (Taira doesn't plan every minute of his day, just the parts that really matter)
- Odd One Out (Perhaps lunch at the academy was an odd choice, but it made sense given his schedule)
Force
- Beast (A 700kg boar is nothing to sneeze at, why do we have boars this big?)
Stamina
- Drained (after a long day, we all feel this way)
- Initiative (Some things don't get done unless you go out and do them, make that "most things")
Seals
- Delivered (Mail in the morning)
- Constrain (ordering around people higher in rank than him is nothing new to Taira, when you've got the authority of the Mikokage, you get used to bossing around Chuunins and Jounin - within the scope of his areas of specialty that is).
